A Weekend in Martha's
Last weekend my husband and I ventured off to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts to see some of our very best friends. We had been to “the Vineyard” once or twice before, but only for a short period of time (ie. day trip) and were looking forward to spending some time there living like locals. Our friends rented a house on the south side of the island, South Katama Beach, which was also a quick bike ride from the renowned Edgartown. Since it was such an amazing weekend vacation, I wanted to document and share all the fun places we went!
Our trip was not super well-planned out, as we just wanted to relax and enjoy. Because of the lack of structure I will be sharing our trip just how it was- chronologically fun.
The timing worked out perfectly, because a mere two hours after we landed on the island, one of my favorite designers of all time, Lele Sadoughi, was hosting a trunk show meet-and-greet on the island!! I was so looking forward to it that I made sure to wear a Lele headband and earrings, appropriately. The shop was super quiet when I arrived, so the first person I saw and talked to was Lele herself… and I was so nervous I immediately starting breaking out into hives (see forehead).
She was SUPER sweet! We talked about how we got to the island… plane versus driving versus boat. She was there on vacation and figured she would make a work trip out of it! I told her I had been a fan for years before she “blew up” into the headband queen she had become.
The shop itself was adorable. Orchard Mile is an online-based store, which was also doing a pop-up in the Vineyard. It carried all the high end brands I like including IRO, Rosetta Getty, Cesta Collective, Vince, and Tanya Taylor. It was a nicely curated selection that I will definitely be checking out more!
Next we headed to the beach for a little afternoon sun. It was exactly what you would imagine a New England beach to be: quiet, clean, temperate and beautiful.
Next, we needed dinner. Sadly, I won’t be sharing any restaurant recommendations because I had the pleasure of staying in the house with some amazing chefs… so we made everything at home. First stop - Morning Glory Farms, where we ended up every single day during the trip due to their incredible fresh produce. Out of everywhere I went on the island, this was probably the hidden gem; great local feel and quality. Pro tip: get there early as possible for fresh eggs, they sell out.
Besides Morning Glory, Edgartown Meat & Fish was highly frequented. Did not get any pictures, unfortunately.
The next morning we rode into town via bike - the true Vineyard way.
Stopped at Rosewater for a matcha latte. An amazing little coffee and gift shop!
Couldn't leave without shopping Edgartown. Some of the highlights include Nell, which was a cute preppy shop with shoes, accessories and clothing of all price ranges.
Next we stopped at Slate, a definite staple of Edgartown. They had other high-end brands such as Tibi, Veronica Beard, Apiece Apart, and Marysia.
Lastly, we had to stop at Vineyard Vines on the Vineyard. It did not disappoint!
Before our weekend ended, we made a quick stop at Grey Barn, which had fresh cheese, meats, vegetables, and mercantile. The best surprise - lavender fields!
We had such a relaxing weekend in the Vineyard, and we can’t wait to go again to experience even more. For such a small island, there was so much to do (and not do - beach here I come!) Hope you are inspired to visit!
