Vintage Looms Complete the Bedroom
Back in August, my husband JD and I were lucky enough to come upon our dream home in Old Town, Alexandria… a beautiful townhome built in 1800 but updated with modern finishes; it couldn’t get much better (and that’s probably a story for another time!) But essentially, when we moved in we knew we wanted to incorporate a lot of vintage and period - friendly pieces while also having a contemporary feel.
Of course, our biggest problem was going from 1400 square feet to over 3000. We knew we had a lot of furnishings to buy but wanted to take it slow to find the RIGHT pieces.
We also had never had the luxury of a guest bedroom before (and now we have three!) First things first, we decided to go room by room to do each one right.
Here you’ll find our vision for the guest bedroom: British campaign style (in other words, think African safari with a sophisticated touch!) While neither I nor JD are professional home designers in the least bit, but we knew our vision for the space and therefore stuck to the theme with each purchase.

The reason I attribute this post to the vintage rugs is because they truly make a room. How I stumbled upon District Loom, local to DC, I am not sure but I am so thankful. Finding the right rug for this space was difficult, but I knew District Loom would be the place to go since every week they were importing more and more quality vintage rugs. When the “one”, “Washington,” came up, we knew. Circa 1890, it fits into the space so beautifully and finally completed this room.
But that’s not all, District Loom came in with another beautiful antique rug that was perfect for our master bedroom! The neutral shades perfectly complimented the light and airy look we were going for.

We (Tanner included) love these spaces that truly feel like us. All it takes is some thoughtful vintage items especially from local establishments like District Loom.
What do you think of these rooms? Do you love vintage, contemporary or a mixture?
Let me know!
