Goldfinch: Shop Review
So many friends told me I HAD to check out this new home goods shop on the northern side of Old Town, Goldfinch, that had just opened and was promised to be just my style. Since I love checking out new local shops more than anything, I set out specifically to check it out last week. And of course, once I did, I was sad I had waited so long… I was missing out!
Located on North Fairfax St., this little shop is a bit unassuming and I at first didn’t see it! It’s in an area of Old Town that is absolutely booming, and I think Goldfinch was definitely one of the early adopters of the area, opening this past March. I was a little early before they opened at 11am, but they saw me poking in and were so nice enough to open early (I work in retail - that is saintly behavior).
I was instantly in love. The space is bright; a mixture of classic and contemporary, exactly something we Alexandrians needed. In the front of the shop they sell a multitude of well-curated gifts and home decor, ie. picture frames, objets d’art, faux flowers, and candles. In addition, beautiful light fixtures and wall art was for sale (I wanted them all). In the back of the store, they had a large selection of gorgeous coffee table books and a literally a wall of candles.
I can’t wait to return to this shop and do some home goods damage. They are a great addition to the Old Town boutique scene and I feel they will do well.
